Gucci Creates Game-Changer In Los Angeles
No trip to Los Angeles, California will be complete without a visit to the Gucci location in Beverly Hills, but not necessarily just for shopping any longer.
Enter the most-buzzed-about restaurant in L.A. where the cool and fabulous are flocking. It's called Gucci Osteria and is being billed at high-fashion meets haute-cuisine. Only having kicked-off February 17, guests are perching atop the iconic Gucci store to take in the fashion house's new Italian gem, a breezy alfresco 50-seat number from three–Michelin-starred chef Mossimo Bottura.
This is all about pizza-inspired risotto, delicate tortellini in parmigiano reggiano cream, and even a few dishes inspired by Los Angeles: a departure from the original Osteria's outpost in Florence, and the forthcoming location in Ginza, Tokyo. The dessert menu is already on wish-list of many especially given a citrus sorbet that is almost tuile-like fan that forms a Malibu sunset. And in an ode to Bottura's son who adores chocolate a rich dessert comes covered in cookie stars reminiscent of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Chefs Bottura, Agazzi and Karime López—the first female Mexican chef to ever receive a Michelin star—will source most of their produce from the Santa Monica Farmers' Market and have a goal of offering a taste of Florence in Beverly Hills.
Not only does Bottura's latest mark his first restaurant in America, it's also the continuation of a lifelong friendship, having known Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri since they were 13 years old in Modena, Italy. In fact, he says, it's important to treat all staff as though they are your own kin or lifelong friends.
Shopping for the latest from Bizzari can work up an appetite, so we're glad to see this compelling addition to the store. Here's hoping that this new addition will also contribute to local food banks as well as employ a diverse staff. That would be the cherry on the proverbial cake!
